It was ‘World Photography Day’ yesterday (in my country least), but unfortunately I didn’t post due to an asthma scare, which almost hospitalised me (I’m OK now though). I’d like to take the opportunity to give a massive shout out to all the arts based photographers who put everything on the line for little pay but larger rewards. It’s an interesting juggle dividing youth work, lecturing and creative endeavors whilst trying to craft and living and most importantly personal meaning. Photography is the one thing that has given me the courage to explore myself.
Looking through that lens slows my life down a little; it takes away the chaos that often plagues my mind. I’m a long-term sufferer of depression and anxiety and my creative pursuits have given me unshakable purpose and understanding of self. I still have my internal struggles, but I am thankful that I have some outlets for conflicting emotions that would otherwise be repressed. My aim is to inspire myself (and others) to keep on living, whilst creating little pieces of myself that will live long beyond my years.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me either through a like, comment, message or personal (face to face) interaction, it does not go unnoticed.
I've attached a photo that I've posted before, but it goes down as one of my favourites.
