Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to kick it with the fam at Chin Up Project and these rad little legends. It's always good to connect with good people. The future is strong!

I love my non-blood family… and this weekend I've never felt closer to them. We fight like family, but we love like family. We've been through many life struggles that most could never fathom. And that's what makes us unbreakable. As a unit, we lose…

I love my non-blood family… and this weekend I've never felt closer to them. We fight like family, but we love like family. We've been through many life struggles that most could never fathom. And that's what makes us unbreakable. As a unit, we lose, we win, we battle our inner demons, but we do it together, no-one is ever left behind. As a family, we are loved, resilient, proud, wise and understood. Like all human beings, we are challenged, but we strive to be better than the person we were yesterday.

This photo captured me and my brother Abdul, in possibly one of the most profound conversations I've ever had with him. The content of the conversation will stay between us, but it was a special moment that I will cherish for the rest of my days.

Every time I see my non-blood family, I leave a greater husband, father and human being. I leave with greater meaning.

To my son,

Two love struck kids,
Stuck between twenty something dreams,
And the idea of future,
An idea, dubious in many respects,
Our journeys lead down many roads,
No signs, and winding into uncertainty,
We longed for something with meaning,
The gift of serving something greater,
A greater love, than the love we held for each other,
And on 13th August 2017,
A lost boy became a father,
A compassionate girl became a mother,
A duo became a trio,
Our little ‘Pockets’ was born,
The kid with an alluring smile,
His sweet energy brings our loved ones together,
And awes strangers on the street,
At one years old,
You know what you want in life,
With eyes on the prize,
You bum shuffle faster than most can crawl,
But, know this,
Life can be struggle,
As a cloud bares a storm,
It will be a breeze by morning,
And birth a treasure in days to come,
Mum will give you the heart,
Dad will give you the wisdom,
And together we will give you all the love that we have,
Move forward with strength, meaning and purpose, our son,
Let the wind hit your back,
That’s how you find yourself.
Be patient,
Find your worth,
Then, aim for the stars kiddo,
You are a gift to the world,
We love you little 'Pockets',
Happy 1st birthday.
