Nearly everyday I look at this picture and think about the young family in it. I met these beautiful people when I was out in the US earlier this year. They were standing out the front of a small shopping centre near the Castro District in San Francisco, seeking money to help feed their child. I looked on as I saw an abundance of people walk on and ignore their desperate pleas for assistance, I mean people didn't even acknowledge their existence. Unfortunately, I saw this scenario play out many times throughout the streets of San Francisco. I leant that approximately 1 in every 100 people in San Francisco are affected by homelessness, which in my opinion borderlines epidemic proportions.
As fellow human beings, don't walk by and ignore others in need. Anything helps, even if you can only spare a little.
I asked if I could take a family photo of these guys and I'm so glad they said yes. I truly hope they are seeing better days as no-one should have to subject themselves such actions, especially a family.
I know it's a long shot, but if anyone has friends in San Francisco (Castro Area), I'd love to get in touch with this family again, even if it's just to pass on this photo.
